Baby Shower Fever

Here at partycloud we love this time of year for baby showers! You can’t beat warm sunny afternoon teas in beautiful surroundings with close friends and family. For those expectant mums lucky to be having summer babies, or if you have been appointed to be the organiser, we have a simple guide on making your baby shower the one to be remembered!

Venues

The setting for your summer shower is one of the most important decisions you will have to make, but it is easier than you may think. Five years ago, even, baby showers were sometimes considered to be something that only celebrities or our friends on the other side of the pond attended, but this trend has taken off massively in the UK meaning there is now so much choice!

This has made it easier to find the perfect venue, and many places offer special packages that can be tailored to suit. Hotels, restaurants and cafes are popular but sitting in the comfort of your own home, especially outside in a beautifully decorated garden can be just as special.

Invitations

The guest list is entirely down to the Mum to Be and can be a small intimate gathering or something on a more grander scale.

If the guest list has grown, an E Invite can be a much more cost-effective way to get your message out there, just make sure you give the organiser an up to date email address list!

 

Theme

A colour theme or genre can be a great way of giving the event some WOW factor! Pinks and blues are an obvious choice if the gender is      known, but partycloud loves mint green, rose gold, silver, nude, grey or perhaps a pastel rainbow pallet if it remains a secret.

Balloons are big right now, and we mean BIG! Arches, columns, illusion displays all help to make an area stand out, or a simple set of 3 staggered helium balloons in the chosen colours on each table can be as effective. Partycloud loves a bit of bunting! Hung from the ceiling or wrapped round a table, it is a must for a baby shower. Why not have some blank sections on each table that your guests can draw on and give to the Mum to Be as a keepsake! A black board written in beautiful calligraphy is an effective welcome. Use this for a gender guessing sweep stake to add excitement for guests arriving!

Catering

If you are holding an office baby shower its always a good idea to do a collection for the Mum to Be. Work colleagues can sometimes be a struggle to buy for, so a gift voucher from a collection can be a real winner. Being able to buy herself the much-wanted changing bag she has had her eye on or putting it towards a car seat can be so greatly appreciated!

If you can, when buying a gift try and pop a gift receipt in the bag just in case mum doesn’t need 10 bath robes or cuddly toys!
As the organiser, if there are piles of presents encourage the opening to be done afterwards! Watching gifts being opened can be a little dull for the guests but also it can be lovely for the recipient to sit with her partner in the comfort of her own home and really take in each item properly…. just remember to jot a list of who bought what, ready for the thank you notes!

Guest books are a great way of capturing the special day, so ask everyone to fill it in with a special message for the parents to be. Keep this out on a main table so it can be found easily and give it to mum at the end as an extra gift!

Games

It is a party after all! A fun quiz hand written on pretty paper can be placed as part of the table decoration and something the guests can do at their leisure.
Something fun for the Mummy To Be…….how about giving her a painted bump (dress allowing of course)? Take lots of photos, enjoy everyone patting your gorgeous bump and try and keep those feet up…..this is one of the only times in a Mum’s life where she can be waited on hand and foot!
