We were lucky enough to be invited to our competition winner, Donna’s, party at the brilliant Peter Ashley Activity Centre, Fort Purbrook.
We arrived at the centre and were shown to a large airy room. All decorated for the party with a long table ready for the feast, this was where all the guests congregated. Our first activity was Laser Tag - so guns and sensors were issued to 11 very excited children.
Josh and Sara, our party hosts, then lead us all through the tunnels to the action area, a large green and grassy, sunlit space surrounded by high walls. Once we were in the Laser arena, Josh gave careful directions as to the use of the equipment and was fantastic in supervising the whole operation.
The children were in their element - running, shooting, ducking, diving with lots of screams and laughter. They enjoyed two rounds of Tag and even the adults joined in at the end!
Their next activity was a String Trail, where the kids were blindfolded and then set off to complete the trail from the top of the Fort to its deepest, darkest depths. Relying solely on their sense of touch and hearing they had to negotiate obstacles and carry out a series of challenging tasks.
After all that exertion, it was time to return to the party room where the group could satisfy their hunger and enjoy the celebrations.
